Firestone Rubber or G.R.P.

ABOUT FIRESTONE RUBBER AND G.R.P.

Firestone Rubber

Most flat roofs over the years were traditionally overlaid with torch on felt. Although this was effective during this particular era, typically a felt roof has an expected lifespan of up to 20 years (if maintained annually) – a lot less if they are left to the elements. Flat roofs of this type are laid in 1m strips and then cross-plied.

In time with constant expansion and contraction, these seams open and allow water ingress to damage the flat roof structure.

Firestone EPDM has a proven lifespan exceeding 50 years. It is fitted as a one piece membrane, fully finished and trimmed for both functional and cosmetic values. It is not affected by extreme weather conditions.

Most projects are fitted in one working day and cause no internal disruption. Firestone EPDM can be found on many Local Authority buildings such as schools, hospitals, libraries etc because of its longevity.

G.R.P.

Invented by Russel Games in 1938, it was originally used in boat construction. Today’s GRP is far superior to that of its predecessors although the principle behind it remains the same – a durable, lightweight, flexible, fully re-inforced and above all waterproof material capable of being moulded to any shape.

Our GRP flat roof systems combine a number of materials including OSB 3 board decking, topseal resin, fibreglass matting, topseal durable topcoat and topcoat fibreglass pre-formed trims to create a roof that not only tough and impact resistant but also attractive and pleasing to the eye.

As one of the UK’s leading GRP flat roofing companies we offer the most efficient systems available whether domestic of commercial, your GRP roof will be installed by our fully trained approved installers.

Unfortunately, the membrane is only available in black.
Flat roofs are generally built with a slight incline so that rain water can drain away into the gutters. Basically flat roofs aren’t always absolutely flat.
